When you arrive back at the starting stem, stitch 6 poppy petals all the way around the swirl. STEP 4. When you get about 1/4˝ from the stem, stitch an “echo” of the petals all the way around the flower until you get about 1/4˝ from your original stem. Stitch about 1/4˝ parallel to your original stem all the way back to your swirl section. Stitch more swirls to fill in around the stem and the poppy. Repeat as many poppies among the swirls as you like! Allover Quilting 37 Swirls and Half-Daisies Pattern is on page 135.

If you come to a point where you are stuck, stitch on previous lines to get off that point. Background Fillers 47 Double Pebbles Pattern is on page 168. Double pebbles give you a different, more complex look than single ones. STEP 1. Begin stitching near a corner or side of the area you are filling. Stitch a small circle. When you arrive back at the original starting point, stitch a second smaller pebble inside the first pebble. STEP 2. Stitch back on the original line to a place where you can start another pebble.
